The National Student Competition formerly sponsored by the Associated General Contractors (AGC) has been suspended indefinitely. The ASC is investigating alternatives for the future but there are no solid plans for the upcoming academic year (2009-2010). Region 3 has elected to closely follow the former ASC/AGC National Student Competition Rules and will continue to do so. These are then modified to account for particular issues with our location, schools, sponsors, and judges. The coach and members of every competing team need to review two documents. In turn, it is the coach's responsibility to make certain that all faculty attending from their institution abide by the rules of conduct and contact as outlined in these two documents. The first, and most general document, is the Guidelines for Region 3 Student Competitions. Teams should review these for the basics on behavior and equipment. This document takes the former National Student Competition guidelines and applies them to the Regional competition. As each competition approaches, late-breaking news indicating availability of projectors, video taping, or other items will be issued through the ASC listserv and posted on this site. The second document, contains Category-Specific Competition Rules for each of the three contests conducted at Region 3. The following links will take you to LAST YEAR's (2009) documents. Use these to gain a sense of the type of projects. This year's documents will be linked as soon as they are received from our judges. Commercial (2009), Design-Build(2009), and Heavy Civil (2009). For comparison, Guidelines for Region 3 Student Competitions may be reviewed. Summary: Review the first and one of the second documents related to the specific competition.
